For me, it’s those moments of joy that bloom out of the simplest things, an open hydrant on a hot summer day, laughter echoing down city blocks, imagination turning concrete into playgrounds. This piece is a reminder that joy is resistance, play is healing, and childhood is sacred.
I painted this to honor the innocence and resilience of young people in our communities, their ability to find freedom, even when the world gives them limits.
