Sunday Morning in Spring (2022)
On 3/19 I was attacked in an attempted robbery. My eye socket was fractured and I suffered a severe eye injury. I had surgery on 4/8. During that time I created a series of paintings with my left eye that represented visions and dreams I had as I recovered. This piece was one of them. Sleeping has been hard between the pain meds and head pain… so I find some peace in the 15 minute sprits of painting … even if It’s just with 1 eye for a while… I’ll keep going.
This piece was based on a photo I saw. It was of a mother walking her daughter to church on a spring day. This piece reminded me of my mother, grandmother, sister, and cousins on a spring Sunday morning.
